About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, build and maintain scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot and modern cloud technologies
Contribute to the full software development lifecycle from discovery and design through deployment and support
Work with product managers, engineers and stakeholders to shape solutions and deliver customer value
Participate in architectural discussions and drive continuous improvement across the codebase
Collaborate through pair and mob programming where appropriate
Review and validate AI-generated code for quality, maintainability and engineering standards
Evolve the reporting platform to support growing customer demand and scale
Own strategic engineering initiatives and day-to-day operational responsibilities

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong commercial experience building backend applications with Java and Spring Boot
Comfortable owning work from design through delivery and production support
Ability to make sound technical decisions and communicate the reasoning behind them
Comfortable reviewing, validating and improving AI-assisted code contributions
Curious, pragmatic and continuously looking for ways to improve products, processes and engineering practices
Experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and applying its principles in production environments is a bonus
Experience with Hibernate, MySQL and Kubernetes is a bonus
Knowledge of messaging technologies and event-driven systems such as NATS is a bonus
Experience with observability tooling such as OpenTelemetry and Grafana is a bonus
Experience working in product-focused, cross-functional teams is a bonus
Experience leveraging AI tools to accelerate software delivery while maintaining high engineering standards is a bonus
