About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and build features for Brain, Benifex’s flagship AI product for Reward Directors
- Use Python/.NET engineering experience to understand the Benefits product and APIs
- Own feature quality by testing work, fixing defects, and improving team practices
- Write clear, convention-following code and provide actionable pull-request feedback
- Improve accessibility, performance, security, and maintainability
- Strengthen alerts and runbooks, improve observability, and help resolve production incidents
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering colleagues to deliver the right outcomes
- Work effectively with remote teams, including Java Spring Boot engineers
- Support onboarding of new engineers
- Use and evolve Benifex’s AI-assisted development practices
- Participate in the interview process as specified
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be based in the UK, Ireland, Germany, or the Netherlands
- Visa sponsorship is unavailable
- 6+ months of commercial production GenAI experience
- Experience using MCP, orchestrating multiple agents, RAG-based solutions, evals, and agentic observability with Langfuse
- Experience with AI security and responsible AI
- Track record of delivering features end-to-end
- Solid commercial backend development experience with Python
- Confidence working with SQL
- Knowledge of clean, maintainable code and non-functional concerns including performance, security, and testability
- Comfortable debugging and diagnosing issues in running systems
- Exposure to containerisation and CI/CD pipelines
- Awareness of agentic orchestration, microservices, and event-driven systems
- Experience with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Copilot, or Cursor
- Interest in AI Native engineering practices
- Strong collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and documentation abilities
- Bonus: A2A integrations, Google Pub/Sub, Redis, GCP deployment and scaling, observability tools such as Grafana, and mentoring junior engineers
