About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and build features for Brain, Benifex’s flagship AI product for Reward Directors
- Use Python/.NET engineering expertise to understand the Benefits product and APIs
- Own shipped quality by testing work, fixing defects, and improving team practices
- Write clear, well-structured code and provide actionable pull-request feedback
- Improve code accessibility, performance, security, quality, and maintainability
- Strengthen alerts and runbooks and improve observability
- Help resolve production issues and incidents alongside a senior engineer
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering colleagues to achieve the right outcomes
- Share progress proactively
- Work with remote teams, including Java Spring Boot engineers, to deliver cohesive solutions
- Support onboarding of new engineers
- Use and evolve AI-assisted development practices within Benifex’s AI-first SDLC
Requirements
What you’ll need- Commercial production GenAI experience (6 months+)
- Experience using MCP, orchestrating multiple agents, RAG-based solutions, evaluations, and agentic observability with Langfuse
- Advocacy for AI security and responsible AI
- Track record of delivering features end-to-end
- Solid commercial backend development experience with Python
- Confidence working with SQL
- Knowledge of clean, maintainable code and non-functional concerns including performance, security, and testability
- Comfortable debugging and diagnosing issues in running systems
- Exposure to containerisation and CI/CD pipelines
- Awareness of agentic orchestration, microservices, and event-driven systems
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional and remote colleagues
- Practical experience with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Copilot, or Cursor
- Genuine interest in AI Native engineering practices
- Bonus: A2A integrations
- Bonus: Google Pub/Sub and Redis
- Bonus: Cloud deployment and scaling experience, particularly GCP
- Bonus: Observability tools such as Langfuse and Grafana
- Bonus: Mentoring or supporting junior engineers
- Must be based in the UK, Ireland, Germany, or the Netherlands
