About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Formulate and mix paint batches according to Central Lab formulations
  • Add and measure approved raw materials using electronic gauges, valves, temperature controls, flow meters, and transfer equipment
  • Perform quality control checks for dispersion approval and transfer
  • Transfer batches into scheduled tanks for thin-down, color matching, tinting, and final approval
  • Match colors to customer specifications using a color spectrophotometer and eye-shading expertise
  • Communicate with milling, shading, filling, packaging, and other departments to coordinate production
  • Make quality-assurance-approved additions to production batches
  • Reutilize rework materials according to approved procedures
  • Maintain filters and production equipment
  • Maintain forklift-related equipment, including checking batteries and charger hookups
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas and follow safety, environmental, regulatory, and PPE requirements
  • Work with the Shading Department to execute quality mixing and shading for the filling line
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School degree required
  • Basic math skills, including addition and subtraction
  • Previous experience and demonstrated ability to accurately match color specifications
  • Ability to work in a team environment and cross-functionally
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and cleanliness
  • Ability to use company software and computer system programs
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work safely and follow SOPs
  • Ability to operate fill-by-weight machine, Videojet, labeler, palletizer, case packer, can and carton computer, and depalletizer
  • Frequent sitting, standing, bending/twisting, squatting, and kneeling
  • Ability to lift 50–75 pounds throughout the shift
  • Ability to stand and climb stairs during an 8–10 hour shift
  • Ability to use a respirator and proper PPE
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends when required
  • Willingness to work and cross-train in other departments
