About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform QC lab duties and process order management
  • Follow safety, environmental, and regulatory guidelines and use required safety equipment
  • Maintain the quality and cleanliness of the work area and equipment
  • Maintain and calibrate prescribed laboratory equipment
  • Assist in process scale-up and watch batches
  • Perform and analyze laboratory tests and procedures and record data clearly and concisely
  • Perform quality control checks and procedures supporting first run capability, in-process QC, post-add calculations, prefill approval, filling approval, and final product verification and release
  • Visually approve comparative drawdowns for color, gloss/sheen, opacity, and cleanliness
  • Interpret spectrophotometric data
  • Maintain inventory of lab supplies and raw materials
  • Check ZWIP and ZFIN process orders for accuracy and completeness, including packaging information, raw-material quantities and types, and QC data
  • Investigate non-conformances immediately and quarantine OOS or questionable materials until final disposition
  • Communicate with other departments for transfer of completed batches to assigned holding tanks
  • Collaborate with QC Lab, Filling, Mixing, and Thinning & Shading Departments to process batches of paint
  • Take direction from the production supervisor/manager and department leads
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Willingness to be cross-functional and flexible to change duties and start times
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to use company software and computer system programs, including SAP, Cimplicity, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Data Color spectrophotometer software
  • Good organizational and record keeping skills
  • Ability to work safely and follow SOPs
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Frequent sitting, standing, bending/twisting of neck and waist, squatting, and kneeling
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects from floor
  • Constant standing for 6–8+ hours
  • Ability to stand and climb stairs as needed
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 55 lbs. continuously throughout shift
  • Constant grasping with dominant hand for 6–8+ hours
  • Constant walking for 6–8+ hours
  • Ability to use proper PPE, including eye protection, safety shoes, and gloves
  • Ability to work overtime when required
