About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Follow batch formulas for proper dispersion into tanks
  • Mix raw materials and perform quality checks
  • Perform color matching and tinting to customer specifications
  • Measure materials accurately and deliver them to assigned holding tanks
  • Add approved materials, colorants, dispersions, thickeners, and thinners according to Central Lab and quality assurance formulations
  • Operate electronic gauges, valves, temperature controls, flow meters, transfer equipment, and prescribed production equipment
  • Transfer completed batches into scheduled tanks for thin-down, color matching/tinting, milling, shading, and filling/packaging
  • Use electronic information systems to control material additions and check inventory supplies
  • Conduct quality control checks for dispersion approval and first-run capability
  • Maintain clean work areas, equipment, and filters
  • Follow safety, environmental, regulatory, and PPE requirements
  • Communicate with other departments to coordinate product processing
  • Reutilize re-work materials according to approved procedures
  • Maintain forklifts and related equipment, including checking batteries and charger hookups
  • Work and cross-train in other departments as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School degree required
  • Basic math skills, including addition and subtraction
  • Previous experience in and demonstrated ability to accurately match color specifications
  • Ability to work in a team environment and work cross-functionally
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and cleanliness
  • Ability to use company software and computer system programs
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work safely and follow SOPs
  • Ability to operate fill by weight machine, video jet, labeler, palletizer, case packer, can and carton computer, and depalletizer
  • Ability to combine and work with raw materials
  • Ability to follow all batch formulations
  • Ability to mix materials and conduct quality checks
  • Frequent sitting, standing, bending/twisting of neck and waist, squatting and kneeling
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling objects from floor
  • Constant standing for 6–8+ hours
  • Frequent lifting of 10–75 lbs. for 1–8+ hours throughout shift
  • Ability to stand and climb stairs during an 8–10 hour shift as needed
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. continuously throughout shift
  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs up to approximately 100% of shift; kneel/stoop/bend up to 50% of shift
  • Constant grasping with dominant hand for 6–8+ hours
  • Frequent fine hand manipulation, pushing, pulling, and reaching above and below shoulder
  • Constant walking for 6–8+ hours
  • Ability to get onto forklifts continuously throughout shift
  • Ability to lift 50–75 pounds throughout shift
  • Ability to use a respirator and proper PPE, including eye protection and safety shoes
  • Ability to work overtime up to 4 hours past regularly scheduled shift and weekends when required
