About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a leader in clinical pharmacy practice for GI/immunotherapy and other assigned clinical areas
  • Provide comprehensive clinical and distributive medication management services
  • Monitor patients, collect patient-specific data, interpret drug-related laboratory data, perform physical assessments, interview patients, and identify therapy goals
  • Develop, administer, and improve ambulatory pharmacy programs and services
  • Develop drug use evaluations, ADR reporting, clinic programs, and business plans
  • Initiate, adjust, monitor, and recommend changes in drug therapy under protocol
  • Document clinical interventions in the electronic health record
  • Coordinate and interpret laboratory monitoring, including serum drug levels and electrolytes
  • Optimize patient outcomes, drug utilization, compliance, and adverse drug reaction management
  • Coordinate continuing education, pharmacy newsletters, journal clubs, in-services, and staff orientation
  • Precept PGY1/PGY2 pharmacy residents and pharmacy students
  • Collaborate with clinical pharmacy specialists to develop pharmacy staff skills
  • Work Monday to Friday on the day shift

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required
  • Doctoral degree in Pharmacy preferred
  • Registration Massachusetts Pharmacist required
  • 1-3 years related work experience required
  • Completion of PGY1 accredited pharmacy residency or 3+ years of Clinical Pharmacy experience in hospital setting
  • Must obtain one or more certification (Certified Specialty Pharmacist (CSP), Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy (BCPS), Ambulatory Care Pharmacy (BCACP)) within 18 months of hire
  • Understanding of insurance and adjudication processes
  • Experience with computer systems, web-based applications, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of complex/chronic disease states and specialty pharmacy therapies preferred
  • Ability to communicate complex information in English
  • Ability to provide patient care across neonatal, youth, young adult, middle age, and elderly age groups
  • Ability to perform light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and stand or move throughout the hospital campus
