About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide individualized, high-quality ambulatory nursing care under the supervision of the Administrative Director and in collaboration with ambulatory nursing leadership
- Collaborate with physicians, healthcare providers, ambulatory support staff, and other disciplines to plan and coordinate patient care
- Perform systematic patient and family assessments and record health data
- Analyze and interpret clinical data and determine nursing care needs
- Develop culturally competent plans of care with patient problems, expected outcomes, and preventative measures
- Deliver age-appropriate physical care, including activities of daily living, positioning, transporting, and treatments
- Utilize and transport equipment
- Monitor patients, recognize acute changes, and intervene appropriately
- Administer medications, including blood and blood products
- Assess caller signs and symptoms by telephone using listening skills and clinical judgment
- Evaluate care effectiveness and adapt plans based on patient/family response
- Educate patients and families about illness, treatment, and preventative measures
- Coordinate care across the continuum and maintain continuity of care
- Delegate and supervise nursing activities, including assignments, teaching, direction, supervision, and outcomes
- Establish professional relationships and collaborate with colleagues and patients/families
- Serve as a patient advocate
- Adhere to policies, procedures, practice guidelines, ANA Code of Ethics, and regulatory requirements
- Support community-based activities
- Uphold quality nursing care, evidence-based practice, and lifelong learning
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of a state approved and/or accredited School of Nursing
- Current license to practice professional nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration
- BLS certification with American Heart Association
- Achieves and maintains ACLS certification as required by departmental standards
- Maintains current knowledge and skill with technical procedures
- Complies with regulations and standards of regulatory and accrediting bodies
- Ability to provide age-appropriate, culturally competent, and safe patient care
- Clinical assessment, judgment, planning, implementation, and evaluation skills
- Ability to telephonically assess patient signs and symptoms
- BSN preferred
