About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist primary health care providers with recognizing and treating mental health disorders and substance abuse
- Identify, triage, and manage patients within the primary care setting
- Collaborate with primary care providers using behavioral health screenings to identify level of care, resources, and treatment planning
- Provide short-term therapy using evidence-based treatment modalities
- Review medical records before initial evaluations and perform thorough assessments
- Assess behavioral health disorders and the continuum of substance use disorders
- Use brief treatment approaches including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Problem-Solving Therapy, Supportive Therapy, Behavioral Activation, and Psycho-Education
- Design and implement behavioral health treatment plans with the primary care treatment team
- Address patient, family, and others’ education needs related to psychological health and substance use
- Design and execute behavioral health and substance use education curricula for staff and providers
- Complete clinical documentation, billing sheets, insurance forms, and related records within required timeframes
- Follow organization, federal, and state regulations, guidelines, and contractual obligations
- Learn and apply insurance standards for commercial insurance and Mass Health products
- Develop a supervision plan and meet regularly with the supervisor to discuss clinical, organizational, and agency issues and review performance
- Build relationships with physicians, patients, visitors, external providers, regulatory bodies, and the broader health care community
- Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive data
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or other directly-related Human Service discipline
- Ability to work as a member of an integrated care team and see clients in the primary care office setting
- Ability to provide leadership, accept responsibility, work independently and set own goals in a professional manner
- Travel between primary care offices as needed
- Ability to exercise good judgment clinically, legally, and ethically and consult with supervisor as needed
- Good oral and written communication
- Computer literacy in standard desktop applications such as Windows, Word, and Excel
- Must be vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment
