About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide short-term school-based individual and group prevention services to youth at risk for substance misuse
  • Help youth develop coping skills, connect with community and school resources, and improve support networks
  • Provide preventative individual and/or group support to students under Senior Case Manager supervision
  • Coordinate with school support staff, faculty, administration, parents, and caregivers
  • Assess academic and family needs and provide referrals to school and community support services
  • Provide triage support as needed
  • Facilitate prevention education through classroom presentations, assemblies, campaigns, and related activities
  • Address youth substance abuse, suicide prevention, and mental health topics
  • Plan and facilitate prosocial student and family events
  • Provide services in family homes and community locations
  • Attend supervision and meetings, maintain program tracking logs, and submit required paperwork
  • Track outcome measurements and conduct satisfaction surveys
  • Represent the division, program, and stakeholders at health fairs, focus groups, coalitions, and special initiatives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or a related field; comparable experience will be considered
  • Experience and training in working with youth, families and substance use issues
  • Working knowledge of computers
  • Ability to complete documentation electronically
  • Ability to complete written documentation timely and effectively
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and reliable vehicle
  • Ability and willingness to transport persons served
  • Travel and ability to meet persons served in a variety of outreach settings
  • Available at least one evening per week and occasional weekends
  • Part-time availability of 20 hours, 2/3 days per week, afternoons and evenings
