About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform diagnostic computerized tomographic scanner radiographs and X-ray procedures for ER, inpatient, and outpatient populations
- Obtain and document patient information and history
- Document IV/oral contrast information and accurate allergy information
- Perform CT exams with 100% accuracy
- Begin and complete exams using RIS and CT work lists accurately
- Quality-control exams using PACS
- Evaluate images for diagnostic purposes, recognizing anatomy and pathology and determining the need for additional scans
- Practice ALARA radiation-safety principles
- Follow department clinical protocols and standards, including post-processing
- Provide optimal patient care through teamwork, on-call coverage, and holiday rotation
- Maintain a clean and safe environment
- Participate in quality-improvement activities and mandatory education
- Transport patients
- Orient new staff and help train students
- Assist receptionists with heavy telephone traffic as needed
- Perform other duties as directed to meet department needs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Two year AMA accredited School of Radiologic Technology
- Registered by the ARRT or registry eligible
- Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Department of Public Health: Radiation Control Program in the specialties in which the technologist practices
- Maintains licensure on an annual basis
- If currently trained in CT, must obtain CT certification within 12 months of employment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required
- Proficient in cross sectional anatomy
- Proficient in CT scanners, power injector, venipuncture, and mobile scanner, or able to be trained to competency and obtain certification within 18 months of completing training
- One year in a trauma setting
- Previous experience in a trauma center
- Prior experience with RIS/PACS preferred
