About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide clerical, clinical, and business support under the direct supervision of a Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Physician
- Perform pre-visit work, obtain vital signs, reconcile medications, and assist providers with examinations and procedures
- Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization; clean and stock exam rooms
- Respond to patient phone portal messages on the same day
- Use standing protocols to complete pre-visit work, close gaps in care, administer vaccines, and complete prescription refills
- Schedule pre-admission and diagnostic testing and make follow-up calls after surgery as needed
- Greet and check in/check out patients, schedule appointments, answer telephones, take messages, organize and file charts, pull and copy records, collect co-pays and balances, process post-payment and adjustment transactions, and balance the daily journal
- Participate in daily huddles and work as part of the care team to ensure communication
- Perform scribing duties, document patient encounters, order labs, make referrals, and order provider-recommended prescriptions as needed
- Monitor care team metrics and outcomes
- Provide coverage for other Core offices as needed and perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School or GED
- For hires after 11/28/2011: CMA/RMA/CCMA certification/registration required or within 6 months of hire OR credentialed through a formal training program that includes testing of knowledge
- BLS within 6 months of hire
- Ability to perform clerical, clinical, and business support duties
- Ability to follow Core Physicians policies and procedures and federal regulations
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control standards
