Key responsibilities & impact
  • Greet patients in person and over the phone
  • Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using EHR systems

  • Improve services and departmental processes
  • Follow patient safety practices, including accepted abbreviations, two patient identifiers, safe injection practices, isolation precautions, PPE, and hand hygiene
  • Work in a busy medical practice environment and provide high-quality, efficient service

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Ability to greet patients courteously and professionally in person and by phone
  • Experience or ability to schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using electronic health records (EHR) systems
  • Ability to register new patients and update patient information
  • Ability to handle incoming calls, messages, and faxes
  • Ability to process insurance information and verify eligibility
  • Ability to collect co-pays and process payments
  • Ability to maintain confidential patient records
  • Ability to prepare correspondence, reports, and medical documents
  • Ability to coordinate specialist referrals and follow up on authorizations
  • Physical stamina; ability to walk and stand for up to 90% of work time
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift 10 lbs.
  • Willingness to cross-train and assist others
  • Availability for some weekends and evenings
  • Ability to adjust to change and handle a rapid-paced environment
  • Compliance with hospital policies, laws, rules, regulations, confidentiality requirements, and safety procedures
  • Participation in EHS's TB program
  • Participation in the hospital's annual seasonal vaccine program (vaccination or declination completed)
  • Staff must be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment
