About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide direct patient care in an ambulatory care setting involving physical diagnosis and therapeutic management
- Perform history and physical examinations
- Formulate care plans
- Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests
- Provide education to patients and their families
- Act as an educator and clinical resource for staff through consultation, formal and informal education, literature review, seminars, and conferences
- Coordinate patient care to provide safe, effective, efficient, timely, patient-centered care
- Liaise between visiting nurses, clinical staff, and consult services
- Consult with physicians or surgeons regarding complex diagnoses
- Document clinical encounters clearly, precisely, and in a timely manner
- Collaborate with health professionals to determine patient and family health needs
- Develop and coordinate plans of care with faculty, fellows, residents, and nursing staff
- Demonstrate and role-model an interdisciplinary collaborative approach to patient care
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master's degree in Nursing required
- Nurse Practitioner License required
- Basic Life Support Certificate required
- 0-1 years related work experience required
- Valid prescriptive authority from both the MA DPH-DCP and Federal DEA
- MA Board authorization to practice as an APRN NRSG
- American Heart Association - Basic Life Support Certificate
- Experience with computer systems, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access
- Written and oral communication in English
- Ability to provide care to neonatal, young adult, middle age, and elderly patients
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently; ability to stand and/or move around through the majority of the shift
