About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide direct patient care and clinical assessment of orthopedic patients
  • Work closely with orthopedic surgeons and act as liaison for nursing and ancillary health professionals
  • Obtain health histories, perform physical examinations, and review laboratory and diagnostic data
  • Identify problems and diagnoses based on clinical findings
  • Develop plans of care, including diagnostic testing, consultations, and referrals
  • Educate and support patients regarding procedures, health issues, and informed healthcare decisions
  • Consult medical staff regarding complex assessments
  • Coordinate care with physicians, physical therapists, and the internal case manager
  • Review diagnostic tests and laboratory results and arrange follow-up for abnormal findings
  • Initiate treatment according to established protocols
  • Participate in operating, hospital, nursing, and quality improvement committees
  • Participate in educational programs and continuing education
  • Initiate emergency treatment when indicated, including CPR and Code protocol
  • Plan time away from work based on operating room schedules and patient load
  • Participate in annual safety reviews and perform other related duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Nurse Practitioner license, license and certification in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Master’s Degree required
  • Graduate of an accredited PA program or master’s prepared in an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
  • 1–3 years of experience
  • Ability to initiate emergency treatment when indicated, including CPR and Code protocol
  • Must consistently promote the organization’s WE CARE values
  • Staff must be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment
