About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Greet patients and visitors courteously while maintaining service, respect, and privacy
  • Serve as a central communication source in patient care delivery
  • Take complete and accurate information from patients and callers
  • Maintain patient confidentiality
  • Perform check-in, registration, scheduling, and demographic verification
  • Register patients and maintain accurate demographic and fiscal data in computer systems
  • Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments
  • Obtain and enter referrals and collect co-pays
  • Monitor and support patients and visitors entering and leaving the practice
  • Facilitate timely patient flow and proactively resolve flow issues
  • Liaise between patients, practice staff, and other areas to support optimal flow and service delivery
  • Maintain a clean and welcoming reception area and clear signage
  • Monitor audio or visual programming and volume levels
  • Contact appropriate departments when repairs or services are needed and follow through
  • Ensure Spanish translation services are provided for Spanish-speaking patients and employees when needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • 1–3 years related work experience required
  • Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications, which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English
  • Ability to comprehend and converse in English
  • Working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures, and policies
  • Ability to interact respectfully with employees, professional staff, and external contacts
  • Ability to provide high-level customer service using active listening and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Ability to perform sedentary work, occasionally exerting up to 10 pounds of force and occasionally walking and standing
  • Certificate 1: Medical Admin Assistant Cert preferred
