About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Greet patients and visitors courteously while maintaining service, respect, and privacy
- Serve as a central communication source in patient care delivery
- Provide accurate information, directions, and guidance, and follow up promptly
- Perform check-in, registration, appointment scheduling, demographic and fiscal data verification using computer systems
- Collect co-payments according to processing standards
- Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments
- Obtain and enter referrals
- Monitor and support patients and visitors entering and leaving the practice
- Facilitate timely patient flow and proactively resolve flow issues
- Liaise between patients, practice staff, and other areas to ensure optimal flow and service delivery
- Perform practice-specific duties such as check-out, follow-up scheduling, providing educational materials, visit ticket entry, and medical records preparation
- Facilitate billing functions and research and follow through on information requests
- Potentially act as group leader in the Manager's absence
- Serve as a department resource for information and training
- Facilitate problem solving and provide appropriate direction
- Potentially participate in small projects under Manager or designee direction
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma or GED required
- 1-3 years related work experience required
- Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications, which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access
- Ability to read and write in English
- Ability to understand and speak basic English
- Ability to provide high-level customer service and remain calm in stressful situations
- Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently and stand or move through the hospital campus
- Certificate 1 Medical Admin Assistant Cert preferred
- Preferred: 1-3 years experience in a healthcare or service/hospitality environment
