About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide non-clinical support to individuals presenting in the ED and/or inpatient units at Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals
- Serve as a recovery guide and role model in recovery management
- Help individuals identify and overcome barriers to recovery
- Connect individuals with recovery support services and encourage hope, optimism, and health
- Support problem-solving and advocacy to help individuals meet recovery goals
- Educate individuals and family members on the recovery process
- Coordinate with peer networks, natural supports, and community social service providers
- Follow up on referrals and contribute to treatment plan revisions
- Assess treatment needs and develop collaborative plans with patients and supports
- Lead group recovery sessions
- Address patient needs in the ED, inpatient settings, and community visitations
- Follow up by telephone or text after discharge and continue engagement
- Document in EPIC and complete administrative requirements
- Educate patients and healthcare peers on SUD and AUD
- Use motivational interviewing to explore causal factors and triggers
- Provide linkage to peer networks and natural supports
- Complete organizational training and act as a role model and advocate
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- 18 years or older
- High school diploma required
- Driver’s license and car required
- Be a Peer with lived addiction experience
- At least two years of current, sustained recovery without reoccurrence
- Preferred: completed the Bureau of Substance Abuse Services (BSAS) Recovery Coach Academy or Connecticut Community Addiction Recovery (CCAR) training prior to working
- Will be reviewed with current employee and timelines discussed for obtaining state licensure requirement as new requirements come out
- Ability to communicate treatment and pathway options to patients
- Time management and prioritization skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Ability to use motivational interviewing
- Ability to document in EPIC system
- Ability to collaborate, communicate, and advocate with cross-functional teams
