About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide individualized, high-quality ambulatory urgent care nursing
- Perform systematic patient and family assessments and record health data
- Analyze and interpret patient data and determine nursing care needs
- Develop culturally competent plans of care and address preventative measures
- Deliver age-appropriate physical care, treatments, positioning, transportation, and activities of daily living support
- Telephonically assess the severity of patient signs and symptoms
- Monitor and recognize acute patient changes and intervene appropriately
- Administer medications, including blood and blood products
- Educate patients and families about illness, treatment, and preventative measures
- Collaborate and communicate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers
- Coordinate care across the continuum and evaluate care effectiveness
- Delegate and supervise nursing care in accordance with Massachusetts regulations
- Participate in quality improvement activities and mandatory education
- Serve as a patient advocate and maintain regulatory compliance
- Uphold evidence-based nursing practice and continuous learning
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of a state approved and/or accredited School of Nursing
- Current license to practice professional nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration
- BLS certification with American Heart Association
- Acute care medical-surgical experience
- Necessary clinical skills and technical knowledge according to Nursing Policy and Procedures
- Necessary clinical skills and knowledge according to clinic-specific competencies
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- ACLS certification as required by departmental standards
- Ability to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Must comply with Beth Israel Lahey Health's influenza vaccination requirement
