About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Register new and established outpatients upon arrival, verify and update information, collect co-payments, and accurately enter data
- Status appointments at check-in and by the end of the business day so appropriate charges can be posted
- Enter future appointment requests and record patient date/time preferences or exclusions
- Schedule multiple appointments in the proper sequence and within appropriate time frames
- Round with patients in waiting areas and provide updates about appointment wait times and changes
- Monitor patient waiting areas for cleanliness and appearance
- Collaborate with the Access Center at LHMC to schedule patients and create access
- Meet established department productivity standards
- Work scheduling queues and recall lists by calling patients to arrange appointments
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma or GED required
- 0-1 years related work experience required
- Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications, which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English
- Ability to comprehend and converse in English
- Ability to make decisions guided by general instructions and practices
- Ability to solve varied problems requiring analysis or interpretation
- Ability to follow precedents and procedures, set priorities, and organize work within general guidelines
- Ability to work collaboratively in small teams
- Ability to provide professional, service-oriented customer service and remain calm in stressful situations
- Ability to perform sedentary work, including occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds
- Ability to sit constantly and perform fine manipulation and keyboard use with both hands
- Must be vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment
