About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Schedule patients for procedures, post-operative appointments, pre-admission testing, testing, surgery, follow-up, and wait-list processes
  • Notify patients in person and by mail of scheduled procedures with complete procedure, location, time, and requirement details
  • Provide patients with information about testing and surgery
  • Maintain scheduling applications and patient data
  • Schedule procedure locations, medical staff, and clinical resources
  • Complete accurate and timely journal entries
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to obtain resources
  • Maintain physician and/or surgeon schedules
  • Register patients and accurately enter demographic data
  • Communicate schedules daily, review them with advisors, update staff on revisions, and post schedules
  • Liaise with internal departments and external resources and agencies
  • Coordinate completion of paperwork and obtain preauthorization
  • Obtain and process referrals for procedures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • 3-5 years related work experience required
  • Experience with computer systems, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English
  • Ability to comprehend and converse in English
  • Working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies
  • Ability to work collaboratively in small teams
  • Ability to provide high-level customer service and remain calm in stressful situations
  • Ability to perform sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds occasionally, with occasional walking and standing
