About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform duties related to the operating room booking process for patients requiring surgical procedures
- Coordinate patient surgeries with surgeon offices, Anesthesia, and OR
- Enter surgical scheduling information into the O.R. Scheduling database
- Prepare admission and registration forms and perform related clerical duties
- Coordinate patient procedures with anesthesiologists to ensure room and anesthesia availability
- Schedule surgical procedures for the OR, OB, and CV suite
- Coordinate arrangements with Radiology, OR, ESWL, EEG, Pathology, and other departments
- Schedule pre-op appointments such as PAT, Prehab, and Total Joint Class
- Prepare the next day's surgical schedule and notify appropriate personnel of additions
- Solicit surgical volume when block time is available to maximize OR utilization
- Notify Anesthesia, OR, and Ambulatory Surgery of finalized schedule changes
- Check in and announce surgeons' arrival to the OR suite
- Perform Department Secretary II duties as needed
- Assist coworkers when short-staffed to meet Perioperative Services needs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ability to manage and communicate information using computers and telephone/paging systems
- Courteous, helpful, and professional manner in all customer interactions
- Ability to coordinate patient procedures with anesthesiologists and multiple departments
- Ability to schedule surgical procedures for OR, OB, and CV suite
- Ability to use the O.R. Scheduling System
- Ability to identify and schedule appropriate pre-op appointments
- Ability to communicate and problem-solve with physician office staff and healthcare teams
- Relevant education, training, experience, certifications, and geography may affect compensation
- Must be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment
