About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Directly handle liability claims, focusing on employers liability claims under Part B of a standard Workers’ Compensation Policy
  • Manage an active desk of litigated and complex liability claims under business owner policies
  • Analyze coverage issues under Workers Compensation and Businessowners coverage forms, standard industry forms, and endorsements
  • Analyze, investigate, and evaluate new loss notices and claim tenders
  • Position claims promptly under applicable coverage
  • Collaborate on setting appropriate claim reserves
  • Exercise sound judgment in managing ALAE during claims investigation
  • Document claim files according to established guidelines
  • Strategize claims toward appropriate resolutions while maintaining regular stakeholder contact
  • Draft coverage letters
  • Evaluate claims and communicate frequently with attorneys and other parties
  • Obtain and maintain adjuster licenses as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including proper grammar usage and clear, concise information delivery
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with complex medical injuries, records review, and treatment plans
  • Ability to work independently and meet assigned deadlines
  • Ability to promptly respond to inquiries with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively
  • Ability to multitask and effectively deal with interruptions
  • Ability to follow instructions and established procedures
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Microsoft applications, and internet applications
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and exercise good judgment in sensitive situations
  • BA/BS degree plus a minimum of 5 years of experience, or Juris Doctorate plus a minimum of 3 years of experience
  • CPCU or other industry designation is a plus
  • State adjuster license required
  • 3+ years of prior general liability or workers compensation claims adjusting experience required
