About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Determine compensability and/or coverage issues for lost-time workers' compensation claims
  • Effectively manage a caseload of lost-time claims from numerous jurisdictions
  • Negotiate and direct settlements under management's review
  • Gather medical and factual evidence to determine compensability
  • Direct outside investigations and handle litigation files within given authority
  • Coordinate and maintain contact with claimants and/or their attorneys, outside investigators, and rehabilitation personnel
  • Maintain routine contact with insureds, account liaisons, and medical providers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Carrier experience preferred
  • Experience handling lost time or litigated claims
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of relevant Workers' Compensation claims experience, OR no bachelor's degree required with 5+ years of relevant Workers' Compensation claims experience
  • Claims Adjuster Designation or SIP Certification required
  • Experience adjusting claims in Texas required
  • Experience in Oklahoma and Alaska preferred
