About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide commercial finance support and insight to Regional Finance Managers and the Southern Area Director
  • Lead budgets, forecasts and investment appraisals
  • Challenge assumptions, benchmark opportunities, and ensure risks are understood and managed
  • Deliver timely management accounts, reporting, KPIs and variance analysis
  • Highlight trends, opportunities and areas for improvement
  • Build relationships with Regional Fleet Engineers and Workshop Managers through regular site visits
  • Use financial insight to identify and deliver performance improvements
  • Undertake operational benchmarking and regular performance reviews
  • Develop and deliver targeted improvement plans
  • Maintain robust financial controls, delegated authorities and balance sheet processes
  • Work with Internal Audit to identify risks and deliver agreed actions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Qualified or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent)
  • Strong management accounting experience, ideally within a service, logistics, waste or operationally focused environment
  • Commercial mindset and confidence working with operational teams
  • Ability to build strong relationships and influence performance
  • Advanced Excel and strong systems skills
  • Ability to turn financial data into clear, actionable insight
  • Analytical and proactive approach
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Confidence to challenge assumptions and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Willingness to travel as per business demand
