About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Cover a balanced subset of key accounts in Texas as a field-based Protein Science Reagent Sales Specialist
  • Achieve sales targets through consultative value selling to pharma, government, and academia accounts
  • Conduct high-content meetings with scientists at all levels, virtually or in person
  • Present the total product portfolio or discuss specific products and services
  • Apply knowledge of proteins, antibodies, ELISA kits, multiplexing kits, small molecules, cell culture reagents, and cell therapy products
  • Conduct field sales in the designated territory and visit customers four days per week
  • Maintain and develop incremental business in existing and new accounts
  • Identify customer solutions using industry and product knowledge
  • Plan and execute account management to accomplish goals and follow company vision
  • Explain product value propositions, features, benefits, competitive advantages, and applications
  • Use Salesforce CRM daily for scheduling, forecasting, and detailed customer and opportunity information

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in biological/medical sciences or a life science field is required
  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in life sciences sales is required
  • Experience selling research reagents or related life science consumables is strongly preferred
  • Thorough understanding of the scientific principles behind the use of Bio-Techne products
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Salesforce (CRM), and computer entry and/or typing skills are highly desired
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Proven ability to secure meetings at locked-down pharma accounts
  • Knowledge of reagents, laboratory techniques, methods, and equipment used in pharmaceutical drugs and biologics research, development, and production
  • Understanding of organizational structures of pharmaceutical, biotech, academic, and government segments and how to penetrate those departments
  • Ability to identify and evaluate customer needs and recommend appropriate products and solutions
  • Ability to act independently and in teams on routine assignments or projects
  • Ability to plan, organize, and multitask efficiently
  • Deep understanding of customer needs through previous lab experience
  • Modern prospecting skills and business acumen to find and convert new business
  • Demonstrable experience using a CRM to document the sales process and customer information
  • Previous consultative selling experience in a scientific environment is required

  • Work authorization in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
