About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a field-based, customer-facing Medical Science Liaison focused on key medical experts and maximizing medical one-on-one interactions with healthcare professionals
- Conduct more than 70% of activities in the field through face-to-face and virtual interactions
- Act as a scientific expert on Biogen products, disease states, and competitors
- Establish and maintain scientific and strategic relationships with physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, medical societies, and academic centers
- Provide relevant scientific information to key medical experts and organizations
- Facilitate key medical expert participation in educational forums and advisory boards
- Identify key medical experts and collaborate with commercial counterparts on medical engagement
- Develop and implement key medical expert engagement plans and plan visits
- Record healthcare professional interactions and MSL activity in the CRM database
- Provide balanced scientific education and presentations to healthcare professionals
- Source and brief speakers for national and state meetings
- Liaise between investigators and Biogen and gather clinician-driven ideas for data generation activities
- Provide regional medical insights, trends, competitor intelligence, and medical updates to internal teams
- Contribute to medical training for Account Executives and serve as a medical resource for Sales
- Support advisory boards, steering committees, speaker briefings, and clinical trial execution
- Collaborate with medical and commercial teams on strategy and communication of complex scientific information
- Review medical literature, literature alerts, scientific publications, and clinical study findings
- Attend requested national and international conferences and provide summaries to internal stakeholders
- Ensure speaker briefings, contracts, slide reviews, training, and stakeholder interactions comply with SOPs and applicable frameworks
Requirements
What you’ll need- Life science background
- Master's degree in life science required
- Sufficient command of English to perform the job
- 3 years of working experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred
- Medical affairs experience preferred; MSL experience best
- Alzheimer's disease experience preferred
- Specialty care therapeutic area experience preferred; neuroscience experience best
- Strong functional and technical skills
- Strong communication skills, including communicating complex data to different audiences
- Strong team-player and collaboration skills
- Internal and external customer focus
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain compliance with Japan and Biogen frameworks and codes of conduct
- Ability to maintain 100% training compliance on allocated courses and internal SOPs
- Understanding of industry rules and legal guidance
- Willingness and ability to follow a compliance and ethical pathway
