About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Establish and grow BioMADE’s Defense and Industrial Base Services business unit
- Develop and execute DIBS strategy, business plans, and operating priorities aligned with BioMADE’s mission
- Drive revenue growth, operating performance, financial performance, and resource allocation
- Lead the DIBS organization and leadership team, including organizational design, staffing, performance expectations, and day-to-day operating decisions
- Contribute to BioMADE-wide strategy as a member of the executive team
- Understand government and commercial customer needs and translate them into services and funded work
- Build a federal work pipeline and pursue aligned commercial opportunities
- Build trusted government and commercial customer relationships and represent BioMADE externally
- Lead business development and capture, including proposals and pricing
- Oversee DIBS portfolio delivery, customer commitments, financial performance, and quality
- Lead project portfolio planning, quality assurance, and program evaluation
- Leverage the BioMADE Pilot Plant Network to mature product technologies toward manufacturing and adoption
- Oversee membership and broader ecosystem activities, including partnerships and workforce development
- Report to the CEO
Requirements
What you’ll need- Senior leadership experience in a customer-facing business, operating unit, or portfolio, with responsibility for strategy, growth, financial performance, and delivery
- Experience formulating and executing financial strategies to achieve margin targets, revenue goals, and operational efficiencies
- Track record of building durable customer relationships and converting customer needs into funded work, services, or partnerships
- Experience with government acquisition, procurement, and/or financial assistance instruments, including proposal development
- Experience leading and developing high-performing multidisciplinary teams, developing senior leaders, and creating a culture of accountability and strong execution
- Experience making portfolio and resource decisions in complex technical or regulated environments
- Ability to lead effectively in a technically complex environment and engage credibly with technical experts
- U.S. citizenship required
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain the required U.S. government security clearance
- Experience serving federal or defense customers strongly preferred
- Experience in industrial biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, or another technology-intensive sector valuable
- Familiarity with technology transition, government contracting, or public-private partnerships desirable but not required
