Senior SAP Analyst – Technical Lead

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the overarching technical lead and final Tier 1.5 troubleshooting escalation point for accounting-related Navy ERP issues
- Perform root cause analysis on complex cross-module and interface issues; determine when GFBO Tier 2 support is required; document findings and execute formal escalations
- Lead monthly period-end close coordination, track dependencies, resolve discrepancies, and drive completion within the four-day financial reporting deadline
- Provide functional and technical guidance across FI, SD, MM, CO, WFM, PS, and FM modules
- Advise on financial processes for interfacing systems, new implementations, and interface modifications while safeguarding transaction data integrity
- Provide technical design and operability support for RIMS-FM, DMLSS, and successor interfaces
- Conduct Navy ERP release and enhancement impact assessments and brief N8 leadership
- Facilitate BUMED-led UAT by developing plans and test cases, coordinating testers, tracking results, and leading post-release verification
- Support Quality Center administration for Service Requests, Maintenance items, Defects, and Engineering Change Proposals
- Develop and maintain technical desk guides and enforce consistent business-process documentation
- Lead process and workflow analysis; propose and implement approved automation using Power BI and Power Automate
- Coordinate external-system requirements and support new reporting requirements
- Mentor and technically direct two Mid-level and two Junior SAP Analysts; act as lead during the Project Manager's absence
- Report to the Project Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- U.S. citizenship; foreign nationals are not permitted access to the functional or system side of Navy ERP
- Eligible for a DoD Common Access Card (CAC)
- Able to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated background investigation; a Tier 3 (T3/T3R) or equivalent investigation is anticipated for Enhanced access to Navy ERP and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI); interim approval is not authorized
- At least five (5) years of relevant experience, including at least four (4) years of direct experience with Navy ERP
- Demonstrated expertise across FI, SD, MM, FM, and PS Navy ERP modules
- Demonstrated experience serving as a technical escalation point for complex interface errors and leading or coordinating the period-end close process
- Bachelor's degree; an additional two (2) years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Access, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat
- Able to produce briefing slides, metric charts, program schedules, and organizational charts
- Able to leverage Power BI, Power Automate, and generative AI tools
- Comfortable delivering ad-hoc, over-the-shoulder user support through Microsoft Teams
- Able to complete the Government onboarding package (OF-306, FD-258 fingerprints, e-QIP/SF-86, DISS profile, SAAR-N) and in-process with the Command Security Manager and ISSM before beginning work
- Able to complete required initial and annual Level I Antiterrorism Awareness, OPSEC Awareness, DoD Cyber Awareness, and CUI training
- Able to work onsite at DHHQ in Falls Church, VA approximately 20% of the time and support limited CONUS travel to Navy Medicine commands in San Antonio, TX; San Diego, CA; and Portsmouth, VA
- Prior service in a Navy ERP Tier 1.5 or Tier 2 sustainment organization (desired)
- Hands-on experience with Quality Center / ALM defect and ECP workflows and Navy ERP release cycles (desired)
- SAP functional certification or equivalent demonstrated configuration knowledge (desired)
- Experience with Navy ERP interface troubleshooting for listed systems and initiatives (desired)
- Familiarity with Navy ERP modernization planning and successor-environment transition activities (desired)
- Experience supporting Navy Medicine or Defense Health Agency financial operations (desired)
- Current favorably adjudicated Tier 3 or higher background investigation or active Secret clearance (desired)
