About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Take technical ownership of the Facilities Monitoring and Control System (FMCS)
- Operate, monitor, and maintain the Siemens WinCC OA SCADA system across servers, operator stations, and displays
- Maintain and diagnose Siemens S7-1500 PLCs and remote I/O
- Adapt control logic within the existing standardized structure
- Plan and perform end-to-end loop checks
- Investigate and resolve alarms, communication faults, and unexpected equipment behavior during live operation
- Verify instrument calibration and troubleshoot analog and digital field signals
- Add datapoints, screens, trends, and reports
- Tune alarms so operators trust the system
- Maintain as-built drawings, tag lists, and change records
- Uphold change control
- Act as the technical counterpart to contractors and vendors
- Support qualification and audits with system evidence
- Extend the FMCS as the facility grows from pilot line to full production
Requirements
What you’ll need- Completed apprenticeship as an Electronics Technician for Automation Technology plus further training as a state-certified technician (Techniker), or comparable qualification; alternatively, a degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or a related field, or comparable
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with industrial SCADA and PLC systems in a production environment
- Solid experience with Siemens S7 PLCs, TIA Portal / Step 7, including going online, reading and modifying logic, and diagnosing faults on a running plant
- Strong SCADA engineering skills, ideally Siemens WinCC OA, or experience with another platform such as WinCC, PCS 7, Ignition, Aveva, or Zenon plus willingness to learn WinCC OA
- Practical experience with loop checks, instrument calibration, signal troubleshooting, and reading P&IDs, loop diagrams, and I/O lists
- Structured and disciplined approach to documentation and change control
- Good command of English
- German is a strong advantage
