About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the estimating process and ensure all proposals meet technical and RFP requirements.
  • Review plans, drawings, specifications, vendor proposals, subcontractor quotes, and related documentation to develop accurate time, cost, and labor estimates.
  • Ensure scope, schedule, and bid pricing are aligned and complete.
  • Review specifications and drawings to establish scope of work responsibilities, required estimate contents, and critical project tasks.
  • Recommend the best solution from design options based on cost, engineering, quality, or material availability.
  • Develop a project-building and scheduling plan and explain the methods used.
  • Prepare a level one schedule and sequencing approach to determine crew size, resources, and productivity.
  • Develop and issue RFPs to qualified vendors and subcontractors.
  • Evaluate quotes using comparison metrics to identify commercially and technically responsible bidders.
  • Ensure RFPs establish the basis of scope and pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Calculate quantity take-offs, material prices, labor costs, equipment costs, and specialty items.
  • Track and research historical data, including purchase orders, subcontracts, and productivity analysis reports.
  • Compile summary reports and bridging documents to develop guidelines and precedent for future estimates.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A four-year degree in Construction, Engineering or related field, or combinations of related education and experience required.
  • Two or more years of progressive related experience in Gas Powered Generation field or four or more years of practical crew based estimating experience in other construction industries.
  • Up to 25% of travel is required.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, and cost coding systems.
  • Strong knowledge of construction estimating techniques, cost control, and proper scheduling of purchases and work.
  • Proficient in HCSS Heavy Bid and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce, Oracle, and Sisense.
  • Experience in Renewable Energy.
