About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead preconstruction and estimating efforts for utility-scale gas power generation projects from early project development through handoff to construction
- Manage estimating teams and review project scopes and technical requirements
- Coordinate bid strategies and ensure estimates are accurate, competitive, and aligned with client expectations
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, project management, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to evaluate risks, identify opportunities, and develop proposals
- Oversee bid preparation and contract negotiations
- Coordinate handoffs, vendor relationships, and project setup activities for transition from preconstruction to project execution
- Drive continuous improvement of estimating processes, systems, and best practices
- Mentor team members and support growth of Blattner’s gas power generation business
- Develop department strategy and vision with regular reporting of relevant industry precedents and procedures
- Support estimate planning, pre-bid meetings, schedule creation, proposal preparation, and Mega project review documents
- Supervise and develop subordinates through mentoring, formal training, and diverse work experiences
- Ensure project quality and safety requirements, training, PPE, and JHA risks are identified and included in estimates
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5 or more years of applicable preconstruction and/or construction experience or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience in estimating, project management, contract negotiations and sound construction methods, with an emphasis on safety and quality
- Bachelor’s degree in construction related discipline
- Experience supporting Gas Powered Generation (GPG) projects from development through construction
- Strong understanding of preconstruction, estimating, procurement, and project handoff processes
- Experience developing conceptual, budgetary, and detailed estimates for large-scale energy infrastructure projects
