About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform advanced engineering design, analysis, and technical oversight across assigned projects and disciplines.
  • Lead engineering activities across pre-construction estimating, bid-phase design, project award, design delivery, construction support, and closeout.
  • Support pre-bid site assessments and constructability reviews.
  • Ensure designs comply with local, state, and international building codes, Owner contracts, and company best practices.
  • Develop Basis of Design (BOD) documents and manage RFIs.
  • Lead drawing and design reviews.
  • Perform equipment and material quantity takeoffs and validate outputs.
  • Coordinate design schedules, resource plans, and cross-discipline activities.
  • Coordinate with owners and EOR teams on submittal milestones, reviews, procurement deliverables, page turns, and AHJ outreach.
  • Review contracts and subcontracts and provide technical recommendations.
  • Coordinate equipment and material selection, vetting, and approval with supply chain, estimating, and construction teams.
  • Collaborate with departments, vendors, and outside engineering firms on safer, lower-cost, and more efficient solutions.
  • Partner with construction management to facilitate design understanding and provide field teams with plans, quantities, and parameters.
  • Communicate with owners, EOR teams, estimating personnel, project engineering staff, and internal stakeholders.
  • Document and resolve scope changes, quantity changes, and design deviations.
  • Capture and share lessons learned to improve design quality and proposal competitiveness.
  • Mentor, train, and onboard Engineer I/II staff.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline work and reduce waste.
  • Attend job/career fairs occasionally and assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or related field, from an ABET accredited college or relevant equivalent industry experience.
  • Five (5) or more years of progressive engineering and/or engineering supervisory experience in a related industry.
  • Experience spanning both pre-construction/estimating and project execution phases is valued.
  • PE license preferred with an emphasis on mechanical engineering.
  • Ability to supervise, influence, and persuade people and groups toward common objectives.
  • Working knowledge of utility-scale engineering equipment and applications within relevant discipline(s).
  • Effective oral, written, listening, and presentation communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Working knowledge, experience, or interest in AI (Artificial Intelligence).
  • Excellent organizational, scheduling, planning, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple concurrent projects and proposals.
  • Logic and reasoning skills to evaluate alternative solutions and approaches.
  • Accounting skills, including math, record-keeping, and cost tracking to manage engineering budgets and report on cost performance.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • May be required to become a qualified individual in pursuit of company contract licensing.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
  • Estimated travel up to 25% of the time.
