About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyze current-state finance processes, operations, workflows, and governance
- Develop future-state process designs and business requirements
- Project manage implementation of workflows, automation, analytics, and AI solutions
- Lead stakeholder discussions and change management activities
- Set up and operate manual processes as needed, then transition them to the ultimate team after automation is implemented (Build > Operate > Transfer)
- Build the operating cadence with the business during process transformation
- Lead operations for resolving platform overages, including fee waivers, invoice fees, upsells, and customer-use remediation
- Understand contractual terms and usage data, assess overage causes, perform cost and margin analysis, and reach commercial resolutions
- Partner with Sales on overages, maintain overviews, follow up on conversations, and provide analysis, guidance, and negotiation support
- Identify overage patterns and follow-up triggers for upsell or cost-saving opportunities
- Develop policies and decision-making frameworks, planning for operations to scale to $500M+
- Lead initiatives to improve finance operations efficiency, accuracy, and compliance
- Develop and implement company-wide cost-saving initiatives through process improvement, automation, and optimization
- Document processes and operations through descriptions, guidelines, and procedures
- Collaborate cross-departmentally with Engineering, Product, Sales, and other stakeholders
- Communicate proactively with strategic decision-makers to drive improvements
- Prepare Finance operations for packaging changes by assessing billing and overage-logic impacts before go-live
- Partner with Product and Engineering to ensure new packaging models are supported by Finance systems and reporting from day one
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimal 5-year relevant working experience
- Ability to translate broad objectives into pragmatic actions with clear follow-up and tangible results
- Ability to navigate an ever-changing environment and build structure for misaligned processes or data
- Proven experience managing usage-based billing concepts such as overages and maintenance fees, ideally in a SaaS or subscription business
- Strong understanding of contractual terms and ability to translate usage data into waiver or upsell recommendations
- Experience building or scaling operational frameworks and metrics from the ground up
- Ability to navigate and mitigate resistance to change
- Skill in managing and leading change initiatives within the finance function
- Commitment to staying informed and driving improvement
- Commitment to continuous learning and driving improvement within Finance and the broader organization
- Deep understanding of how packaging, monetization, and usage policies tie into overall business goals
- Familiarity with financial software, ERP systems, and other relevant tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for assessing complex financial data, identifying trends, and making data-driven recommendations
- Ability to deal with resistance, persist, and influence without authority
