About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design sustainable infrastructure, microservice solutions, and efficient, robust production environments with Engineering teams
Automate tools and infrastructure to reduce manual work
Monitor applications and participate in an on-call rotation as required
Independently own maintenance and project tasks from specification through production
Operate and maintain Bloomreach Engagement core infrastructure on Google Cloud
Manage Kubernetes, databases, and Google Cloud components
Support developers and review design proposals
Validate application performance and availability
Develop core application components such as logging or authorization when needed
Use AI assistants to accelerate work while retaining understanding and accountability for shipped changes

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least 3 years of production experience with Kubernetes, public cloud infrastructure, and Python/Go
Kubernetes expertise, including cluster operations and 24x7 production support
Experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure; GCP preferred
Understanding of public-cloud risks and benefits
Familiarity with infrastructure as code principles
Ability to choose between cloud-managed solutions and self-hosted alternatives
Ability to read and understand code confidently
Ability to review and evaluate AI-generated Python code for correctness, security, and fit
Ability to develop custom tooling when needed
Active interest in Kubernetes and related technologies
Participation in DevOps-related conferences
Hands-on experience configuring pod/container security context, network policies, roles and role bindings, pod affinity, host path, pod disruption budgets, priority classes, and node taints
Experience analyzing cluster application resource usage and implementing or suggesting resource requests/limits, HPAs, or VPAs
Deep understanding of managed clusters, node pools, cluster features, cluster versions, and node autoscaling
Experience upgrading Kubernetes clusters without interrupting live applications
Experience writing Terraform modules with multiple interconnected resources
Experience setting up monitoring systems and configuring alerts
On-duty experience, Grafana, and Prometheus experience preferred
Experience with DevOps, orchestration/configuration management, and continuous integration technologies, including Terraform, GitLab, Ansible, and Docker
Experience onboarding and training new team members
