About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define and evolve reference architecture for distributed, event-driven, and integration-centric systems
  • Establish architecture principles, standards, and design patterns across engineering teams
  • Lead system design for high-scale, mission-critical applications
  • Design systems for high throughput, large-scale data processing, fault tolerance, resiliency, scalability, and performance
  • Architect enterprise integration solutions using publish/subscribe, message routing and transformation, and event-driven workflows
  • Define strategies for message durability and replay, schema evolution and event versioning, dead-letter handling, and recovery
  • Define API design and governance standards for REST, gRPC, and asynchronous APIs
  • Architect service-to-service communication models and guide API gateway and service mesh implementation
  • Design cloud-native systems using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Define architecture for multi-region deployments, high availability, disaster recovery, and Infrastructure-as-Code
  • Design distributed data strategies including Event Sourcing, CQRS, synchronization, replication, and distributed data stores
  • Establish system-wide observability, distributed tracing, and correlation ID patterns using tools such as Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, and Jaeger
  • Define secure communication patterns and support compliance requirements including FedRAMP, DoD standards, and SOC2
  • Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, security teams, and external customers
  • Mentor senior engineers and provide architectural guidance
  • Participate in design reviews and technical decision-making

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • US citizenship
  • Must have a security clearance or be able to obtain one in the future
  • Open to candidates who can relocate to Dallas
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with significant focus on distributed systems architecture
  • Proven experience designing large-scale, distributed, and event-driven systems
  • Strong technical understanding of Java-based microservices architecture and API gateways
  • Strong experience designing event-driven architecture and using messaging platforms such as Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ
  • Deep understanding of Enterprise Integration Patterns and data flows
  • Experience with cloud-native platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and API design
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Solid understanding of data architecture in distributed environments
