About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead account delivery for small-to-medium accounts, ensuring deliverables are on time, on budget, and meet high quality standards
- Design, develop, and review medical communications materials, including slide decks, video scripts, leave-behind pieces, website copy, manuscripts, congress publications, scientific communications platforms, gap analyses, meeting summaries, and reports
- Deliver thoroughly researched, technically accurate, client-ready work that meets client objectives
- Review and ensure the scientific accuracy, referencing, audience appropriateness, and quality of junior team members' work
- Provide feedback, coaching, and mentoring to junior-level writers
- Lead and drive medical conference and meeting events, including symposia, advisory boards, investigator meetings, and communication and publication workshops, including on-site management
- Develop scientific knowledge across therapy areas and emerging expertise in at least one therapy area
- Lead client meetings, briefing calls, and follow-up conversations with HCPs and subject matter experts
- Build client relationships and help shape client strategy
- Plan account-team workloads, manage small-to-medium projects, and escalate risks and resourcing needs
- Contribute to new business pitches
- Review timelines, budget hours, scientific resourcing needs, account finances, and project delivery against budget and timeline
- Complete timesheets promptly and maintain required billability
- Manage 1–2 direct reports and oversee junior colleagues' activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Higher degree in a relevant subject (PhD, MD, PharmD, etc.)
- 4–6 years of medical writing experience in Medical Communications
- Excellent scientific and editorial competency
- Experience in building strong relationships with clients and HCPs
- Ability to critically review deliverables for scientific accuracy and integrity
- Experience in coaching and mentoring junior-level writers
- Proactive approach and an enthusiasm for trying new things
- Ability to work under pressure and juggle multiple deadlines
