About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Process medication orders and review them for appropriateness, safety, and efficacy
  • Perform clinical support duties as needed
  • Prepare compounded and non-compounded medication products safely and accurately
  • Oversee pharmacy distributive functions to ensure timely medication availability
  • Oversee pharmacy technicians and support personnel based on department needs
  • Maintain accountability for pharmacy inventory security
  • Identify, document, and resolve potential and actual adverse medication events
  • Evaluate event reports for trends and prevention when needed
  • Provide medication education to improve patient understanding and adherence
  • Communicate with pharmacy team members, healthcare providers, patients, caregivers, and leaders
  • Participate in medication safety, quality assurance, drug utilization reviews, drug dosing, infection prevention, and student precepting activities
  • Travel between locations as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Maintains current license for pharmacist in the state(s) where practicing (required)
  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS or PharmD (required)
  • Experience in field of pharmacy practice (required)
  • Proficient use of all computer hardware and software (required)
  • Ability to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served, from neonates through geriatrics
  • Ability to travel between locations and car travel to off-site locations as needed
  • Ability to prepare medication products consistent with practice site requirements
  • Ability to handle hazardous drugs
  • Knowledge of pharmacy operating systems and automation
  • Computer knowledge including MS Office, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and drug databases
  • Core knowledge of medications, including adverse effects, interactions, proper dosing, monitoring parameters, and cost
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance
  • Ability to develop SMART goals and objectives
  • Ability to provide medication education
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking, communication, organization, and stress management
