About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop competency in and perform the basics of polysomnographic testing and associated patient care and treatment interventions under direct supervision of an RPSGT
- Work cooperatively under the supervision and direction of an RPSGT, quality control technologists, and sleep center leadership to master skills necessary to perform quality sleep studies and achieve the RPSGT credential
- Assist with patient safety and therapeutic interventions, including continuous and bi-level airway pressure and oxygen administration
- Assist with sleep center protocols and workflows as proficiency is obtained
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, policies, protocols, and standards for an outpatient hospital department and accredited sleep center
- Assist with scheduling patient visits and procedures, reminder calls, filling vacancies from cancellation lists, and tracking patient reschedules, cancellations, and no-shows in the EMR
- Promptly report cleanliness, maintenance, safety, equipment, supply, patient complaint, injury, security, and infection-control issues to management and appropriate departments
- Perform other job-related duties as required by the supervisor, subject to reasonable accommodation
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- BLS Basic Life Support preferred upon hire, required before patient care
- Obtain RPSGT Registered Polysomnography Technician credential within 18 months of hire (required)
- Must be working through an established BRPT pathway to reach the RPSGT credential
- Must complete the RPSGT credential within 6 months of eligibility and within 18 months of hire
- At least six months of customer service experience (preferred)
- Proficient with computers, accurate data entry, and Microsoft Office
- Comprehensive knowledge of the field's concepts and principles
