About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage Infection Prevention and Control activities under the guidance of the Manager of Infection Prevention
- Coordinate and support implementation of a system-wide infection control and prevention program
- Identify, prevent, and eliminate or reduce sources of infection
- Implement and monitor processes to reduce hospital-associated infections
- Ensure compliance with local, State, and Federal regulatory requirements
- Apply epidemiologic principles and statistical methods, including risk stratification
- Perform surveillance using NHSN criteria and investigate hospital-associated infections
- Use computer-based programs for tracking, reporting, and disseminating surveillance information
- Prepare statistical reports to identify and analyze infection trends
- Investigate, document, and report infection control issues
- Investigate infection outbreaks in consultation with healthcare and public health professionals
- Participate in quality and performance improvement initiatives
- Conduct environmental rounds and construction risk assessments
- Provide infection prevention interventions to maintain patient, visitor, and associate safety
- Provide expert knowledge and guidance in infection prevention and control and epidemiology
- Collaborate with Employee Health on communicable disease exposures and follow-up
- Educate healthcare providers, staff, patients, families, and the public on infection prevention measures
- Serve as a leader, mentor, and role model for facility personnel and healthcare professionals
- Collaborate in fiscal management through evaluation of infection prevention technology and products
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelors degree in Nursing or healthcare related field (required)
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC), awarded by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC) (required within 3 years)
- 2 years experience in direct patient care or a related healthcare field (preferred)
- Infection control/ prevention experience (preferred)
- Knowledge of improvement science
- Demonstrated ability/experience to lead and facilitate multi-disciplinary teams
- Demonstrated experience in performance improvement
- Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Strong analytical skills
- In-depth knowledge of computer systems and various software programs
- Ability to work independently and self-directed
