About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support standardization and optimization of specialty pharmacy services across Bon Secours Mercy Health
  • Process prescription information and review patient profiles for accuracy
  • Assist customers with prescriptions and specialty pharmacy orders
  • Receive prescriptions, gather customer information, and prepare prescription drug therapy
  • Document and maintain updated patient charts and refill dates
  • Assist with prior authorizations and appeals of insurance denials
  • Coordinate medication, supplies, and equipment deliveries
  • Answer and triage phone calls, faxes, and computer requests
  • Complete pharmacy technician duties and cross-train or cover department technician areas
  • Establish specialty pharmacy patient accounts and verify insurance coverage
  • Assist patients with insurance companies, copay assistance, and additional funding sources
  • Plan and schedule efficient, timely, and cost-effective patient deliveries
  • Communicate with internal departments, external specialty pharmacies, patients, providers, and clinic staff
  • Maintain a clean and well-stocked pharmacy
  • Train staff members and students as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Applicable state board-certified Pharmacy Technician License (required)
  • National Certified Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician License (required)
  • High School/GED (required)
  • 1 year of experience in provider clinic, specialty and/or retail pharmacy (required)
  • EPIC Electronic Health Record (preferred)
  • Ability to process prescription information and complete accurate third-party billing
  • Ability to prepare prescription drug therapy in compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements
  • Ability to assist with prior authorizations, insurance coverage, appeals, and copay assistance
  • Ability to coordinate medication deliveries and communicate with patients, providers, insurers, and specialty pharmacies
