About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide couplet care to patients who have recently delivered in the Labor & Delivery unit
  • Deliver patient-centered care to postpartum and newborn nursery patients and their families
  • Perform delegated patient care interventions
  • Obtain vital signs
  • Bathe and feed patients
  • Dress wounds
  • Assist with hygiene
  • Clean rooms and linens
  • Provide emotional support
  • Perform environmental and inventory activities to maintain a safe, clean, and appropriately equipped environment
  • Contribute to efficient department operations and quality patient/family clinical outcomes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A high school diploma or GED certificate
  • Certification in basic life support (BLS), including CPR certification (must be current or obtained within 30 days of employment)
  • Ability to pass clinical competency testing
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
  • Basic math and computer proficiency
  • One year of previous experience as a Patient Care Technician in an acute hospital setting, or currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotation, or completed an approved patient care technician training program, or one year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only)
  • Fluency in another language a plus
  • Previous medical/surgical experience preferred
