About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own and evolve the front-end of BotCity’s products
Develop, deploy, and maintain scalable, responsive web applications using modern front-end technologies
Focus primarily on desktop experiences, with some mobile development that may evolve over time
Collaborate with product managers and UX/UI designers to understand requirements and translate them into technically feasible, user-friendly solutions
Maintain and improve the front-end codebase by refactoring legacy code and implementing best practices
Ensure performance across multiple devices and browsers
Participate in code reviews and uphold front-end development best practices
Identify and troubleshoot front-end issues to ensure a seamless user experience
Write reusable code and libraries for future use
Optimize components for maximum speed
Set front-end standards and playbooks to help the team scale
Raise the team’s bar through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing
Report to the Engineering Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
5+ years of experience as a software engineer
3+ years on complex front-end projects alongside Product/UX/UI teams
Solid software engineering fundamentals, including clean code, design patterns, component architecture, and state management
Experience with automated testing tools such as Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright, or Cypress
Front-end performance optimization experience
Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript
Expertise with React and Next.js
Experience with Git and GitHub
Experience with MS Office/Excel, Google Suite, and Notion
Fluent Portuguese
Advanced English
Ability to drive initiatives to completion with accountability and take calculated risks with the customer in mind
Ability to start from customer needs and execute carefully while maintaining the big-picture view
Ability to communicate proactively, clearly, concisely, and respectfully challenge decisions
Ability to actively seek, give, and act on feedback
Prior experience in an early-stage, high-growth, fast-paced startup environment
Ability to travel as needed to support events and meet the team
