About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist in managing key global categories or sub-categories of spend
- Support category management and global supplier relationship management
- Drive end-to-end spend management to mitigate supply chain risk and increase value delivery, including sustainability
- Collaborate across procurement and with regional, business, and FB&T resources
- Cover MTI (Maintenance, Turnaround, Inspection), MRO, Engineering, Fabrication & Construction, and Engineered Equipment & Services categories
- Assist in developing creative global and regional category strategies
- Analyze market factors and remain attuned to market dynamics
- Build external networks and category expertise
- Support data-led end-to-end category performance management
- Navigate operational frameworks and support consistent strategy delivery and uninterrupted supply flow
- Consider regional laws, taxes and market conditions in category planning
- Cultivate supplier partnerships to unlock people, profit and planet value
- Assist with transformation initiatives and supplier performance management
- Support digital solutions that drive innovation and improve efficiency, effectiveness and value creation
- Partner with internal rigor teams to drive category excellence
- Help communicate insights and strategies to gain agreement
- Work within a collaborative category team and advocate for the category
- Share category knowledge across procurement teams and build wider organizational capability
- Develop technical capabilities for category operational excellence
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree educated; Engineering is preferred, or equivalent relevant professional experience
- EPC contractor or downstream plant-based experience preferred
- Basic understanding of ensuring strategies flow through to execution in businesses/assets
- Ability to develop an understanding of supported businesses, regions, assets and objectives
- Knowledge of procurement within a multinational business
- Knowledge of relevant procurement categories and market dynamics
- Some experience leading initiatives internationally preferred
- Ability to recognize cultural nuances, analyze data-driven trends and insights, and employ agile/flexible approaches
- Advocate for bp’s code, Operating Management System (OMS), and safety leadership principles
- Ability to contribute to innovative solutions while managing risk
- Ability to foster strong supplier relationships and bring multiple parties together to solve complex business problems
- Ability to translate business requirements into a strategic category plan
- Critical thinking and informed strategic decision-making
- Partner networking and influencing skills
- Ability to interact regularly with external suppliers and represent bp externally
- Change management capability
- Ability to persevere through organizational complexity and resistance to change
- Postgraduate qualification related to procurement desirable
- German language proficiency is an advantage
