About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide technical leadership across hardware security and connectivity solutions supporting bp’s EV charging estate
- Assess and improve the security of EV charging hardware, embedded systems, battery systems, and connected technologies
- Review supplier solutions and recommend actions to address security or connectivity risks
- Support delivery and operation of cellular connectivity services used across charging infrastructure
- Lead investigations into connectivity or security incidents and drive effective resolution
- Define technical requirements, acceptance criteria, and assurance activities for new solutions
- Support testing activities, including vulnerability assessments and penetration testing
- Evaluate cellular, broadband, fibre, Ethernet, and wireless connectivity technologies
- Work with suppliers and stakeholders to balance security, performance, reliability, cost, and operational needs
- Maintain technical documentation, designs, and assurance records
- Use data and evidence to support decision-making
- Collaborate across diverse teams and stakeholders
- Share knowledge and support continuous improvement
Requirements
What you’ll need- A degree or equivalent practical experience in engineering, cyber security, telecommunications, networking, software, electronics, or a related field
- Experience designing, supporting, or securing connected devices, systems, or infrastructure
- Knowledge of networking technologies such as TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, and secure remote access
- Experience working with cellular technologies and connectivity services
- Ability to assess technical risks and communicate recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience collaborating with suppliers, technology partners, and cross-functional teams
- Experience from areas such as EV charging, cyber security, telecommunications, networking, IoT, operational technology, or connected infrastructure
- EV charging infrastructure experience beneficial but not required
- Industrial or operational technology environment experience beneficial but not required
- PKI, certificate management, secure boot, or trusted hardware technologies beneficial but not required
- Vulnerability management, penetration testing, or security assurance beneficial but not required
- Enterprise or industrial networking beneficial but not required
- Familiarity with IEC 62443, ISO 27001, ETSI EN 303 645, or NIS2 beneficial but not required
- Relevant cyber security, networking, or engineering certifications beneficial but not required
- No relocation assistance; role starts in Sunbury, London and is expected to relocate to Timber Square, London around Q4 2027-Q1 2028
