About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own and shape bp's Mobility & Convenience Americas strategy
Set the strategic agenda and direction for business growth
Own strategy development, portfolio logic, capital-allocation logic, and analytical rigor
Act as primary thought partner to senior leadership
Translate enterprise and Customers-level strategy into actionable roadmaps with milestones, KPIs, and success measures
Own a portfolio of high-impact initiatives and manage interdependencies and risk
Direct advanced analyses including financial modeling, value assessment, benchmarking, market dynamics, customer needs, regulatory and policy trends, and competitive developments
Make data-driven decisions for senior leaders
Develop and present strategic narratives for executive forums, governance processes, performance reviews, and board-level updates
Chair governance where owning the agenda
Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team
Partner across Operations, Finance, and Digital
Engage regularly with M&CA leadership, including the VP of Portfolio, Network & Delivery
Stay close to delivery to ensure strategy remains effective as conditions change
Travel up to 25%

Requirements

What you’ll need

10–15+ years of post-university experience
Team leadership experience
Strong foundation in top-tier management consulting, including McKinsey, BCG, or Bain
Subsequent experience in oil & gas, ideally downstream (fuels, retail fuels, convenience, mobility) strongly preferred
Hands-on experience in retail and/or convenience nice to have
Bachelor's degree or relevant professional qualification
MBA beneficial but not required

Ability to influence at the most senior levels
Strong quantitative and qualitative skills
Financial modeling, market assessment, scenario analysis, and synthesis
Experience leading teams and complex plans
Stakeholder coordination and delivery of high-quality outcomes
Executive-ready written, verbal, and visual communication
Cross-functional influence and alignment
Understanding of customer dynamics, market trends, competitive landscapes, and relevant policy
Up to 25% travel should be expected
Candidates able to regularly work from Chicago, Louisville, or Cleveland core office locations; other U.S. locations may be considered
