About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the Retail Assets Procurement team and deliver measurable value, resilient supply, and fit-for-purpose standards
- Set and complete category strategies supporting bp, Amoco, Thorntons, TravelCenters of America, ampm, and bp pulse sites
- Own end-to-end category strategies for construction, maintenance, fuel systems, and store/forecourt equipment
- Identify and deliver value levers including standardization, specification optimization, bundling, demand shaping, competitive events, should-cost, and cost benchmarking
- Provide external market insight and lead strategic recommendations through key decision forums
- Collaborate globally across Goods Not for Resale procurement categories
- Design commercial models such as regional networks, panels, turnkey, and performance-based services
- Lead complex negotiations and contract execution with effective risk management and clear performance expectations
- Manage strategic suppliers through performance reviews, continuous improvement plans, innovation pipelines, and issue resolution
- Advise Construction & Facilities, Retail Operations, Engineering, and HSSE stakeholders
- Lead and develop direct reports through coaching, performance expectations, and capability building
- Create a high-performance culture grounded in inclusion, collaboration, and psychological safety
- Drive simplification and standardization across specifications, scopes, contracting approaches, and supplier onboarding
- Leverage digital tools and procurement analytics to improve visibility and accelerate value capture
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree educated; Procurement-related degree preferred, or equivalent relevant professional experience
- Postgraduate qualification related to Procurement desirable
- MCIPS/ISM qualification desirable but not crucial
- Proven experience building and executing category strategies
- Experience leading end-to-end sourcing and contracting processes in a sophisticated organization
- Strong commercial capability in negotiation, contracting, cost modelling/should-cost, benchmarking, and benefits tracking
- Experience designing supplier ecosystems and service delivery models
- Strong understanding of translating strategy into execution across stakeholders, sites, and suppliers
- Experience relevant to retail fuel and convenience operations and/or adjacent multi-site asset environments
- Retail construction and maintenance services, general trades, and/or forecourt and store equipment experience preferred
- Comfortable operating in safety-critical, regulated environments with strong contractor HSSE expectations
- Demonstrated people leadership experience with accountability for developing talent and sustaining performance
- Experience leading and developing direct reports
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders, lead through ambiguity, and drive outcomes across a matrix
- Ability to understand the US retail market and collaborate with global teams
- Data-driven decision-making capability
- Comfort with spend analytics, performance dashboards, and digital procurement tools
- Proven change leadership with strong communication and stakeholder adoption
- Experience negotiating and managing agreements
