About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead a team of subject matter experts in marine, electrical, control, and automation engineering
  • Support delivery of Shipping strategy
  • Provide engineering leadership and set requirements for engineering activities
  • Provide discipline expertise for oil and gas projects
  • Develop inspection, test, and maintenance strategy and deliver it through systems and tools
  • Manage cyber risk for OT systems
  • Manage obsolescence for operated assets
  • Monitor future fuels and engine technology developments
  • Provide market intelligence and business input on future fuels and propulsion systems for time charter vessels
  • Engage stakeholders across ST&S and the wider BP business
  • Develop maintenance strategy and manage inspection, test, and maintenance requirements for fleet reliability and availability
  • Manage cyber risk management for OT systems in the operated fleet
  • Set engineering discipline requirements aligned with regulatory and BP requirements
  • Manage asset obsolescence and the modification system
  • Provide subject matter expertise to infrastructure-focused oil and gas projects
  • Support BoG management for the LNG business
  • Engage OEMs and industry stakeholders on future fuels and propulsion systems for the OTC fleet
  • Act as contract accountable manager and manage discipline-focused contracts
  • Carry out operational assurance of BP Marine-owned barges
  • Develop and deliver projects improving vessel operations and operational efficiency
  • Manage Opex and project budgets
  • Represent BP Shipping in industry and internal engineering forums

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Class 1 certificate of competency / Electrical engineering maritime competency / Equivalent Degree or professional qualification
  • Experienced in oil and gas tanker operations as a senior sea going marine or electrical engineer
  • Experienced in risk management and maintenance systems
  • Experienced in project management
  • Able to communicate technical information in simple language to non-technical audience
  • Experience in engineering leadership role in office environment (desirable)
  • Chartered Engineer (desirable)
  • Experienced in OT cyber risk management (desirable)
  • Up to 25% travel should be expected with this role
  • Employment may be contingent upon local policy requirements, including pre-placement drug screening, medical review of physical fitness, and background checks
