About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the strategic growth of B&D's Public K-12 practice across Florida
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with school district leaders, including superintendents, CFOs, facilities leaders, and board members
  • Develop and execute market growth strategies to increase visibility, influence, and market share
  • Identify emerging trends, funding opportunities, enrollment shifts, capital planning needs, and other factors shaping Florida's K-12 market
  • Advise current and prospective clients on facility planning, capital programs, development strategy, and implementation
  • Lead business development activities, including client engagement, opportunity identification, pursuit strategy, conference participation, presentations, and industry involvement
  • Partner with regional leadership on pursuit strategies, staffing plans, and client engagement approaches
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure successful delivery, strong client experiences, and long-term client retention
  • Represent B&D through thought leadership initiatives, conference presentations, publications, and industry engagement
  • Identify hiring, resource, and capability-building opportunities
  • Mentor and develop staff and build long-term Public K-12 expertise and capacity
  • Support strategic initiatives positioning B&D as a leader in Florida's educational facilities and capital planning marketplace
  • Foster collaboration across offices, disciplines, and service lines
  • Balance business development, client leadership, and project delivery responsibilities
  • Lead with an entrepreneurial mindset to expand relationships, services, and market presence

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, construction management, education, planning, engineering, business, real estate, or a related field
  • 10+ years of professional experience in planning, advisory services, owner's representation, program management, architecture, engineering, construction, or related industries
  • Significant experience serving Public K-12 clients within Florida
  • Established relationships and credibility among Florida school district leaders and decision-makers
  • Demonstrated success in developing business, growing client portfolios, and winning new work
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex client engagements
  • Strong understanding of Florida K-12 funding mechanisms, capital planning processes, bond programs, procurement methods, and facilities planning
  • Excellent presentation, communication, facilitation, and relationship-management skills
  • Proven ability to balance strategic leadership with day-to-day execution
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout Florida
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Active involvement in organizations such as FASA, FEFPA, FSBA, or similar educational and facilities industry associations
  • Experience leading major capital improvement programs, district-wide facility assessments, educational planning initiatives, or large-scale development projects
  • Strong professional network across Florida school districts, educational organizations, and industry partners
  • Proven ability to build trust and credibility with executive-level stakeholders
  • Track record of building, developing, and mentoring high-performing teams
  • Experience working within consulting, owner's representation, advisory, program management, or professional services environments
  • Ability to identify emerging market opportunities and position organizations for long-term growth
  • Candidates must reside in Florida
