About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the strategic growth of B&D's Public K-12 practice across Texas
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with school district leaders, including superintendents, CFOs, facilities leaders, and board members
  • Develop and execute market growth strategies to increase B&D's visibility, influence, and market share throughout Texas
  • Identify emerging trends, funding opportunities, enrollment shifts, capital planning needs, and other factors influencing Texas K-12 facilities and infrastructure decisions
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on facility planning, capital programs, development strategy, and implementation
  • Lead business development activities, including client engagement, opportunity identification, pursuit strategy, conference participation, presentations, and industry involvement
  • Partner with regional leadership to develop winning pursuit approaches, staffing plans, project strategy, scope development, and client engagement efforts
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure successful delivery, strong client experiences, and long-term client retention
  • Support thought leadership through speaking engagements, publications, conference participation, and industry association involvement
  • Identify hiring, resource, and capability-building opportunities that strengthen B&D's K-12 presence in Texas
  • Mentor and develop staff and help build the next generation of K-12 leaders
  • Contribute to firmwide strategic initiatives and cross-regional collaboration
  • Lead through influence, collaboration, and relationship-building across a matrixed organization
  • Balance business development, client leadership, and project execution responsibilities
  • Foster partnerships between regional, practice, and industry leaders
  • Drive accountability while maintaining a collaborative and entrepreneurial leadership style

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, construction management, education, planning, engineering, business, real estate, or a related field
  • 10+ years of professional experience in planning, advisory services, owner's representation, program management, architecture, engineering, construction, or related industries
  • Significant experience serving Public K-12 clients within Texas
  • Established relationships and credibility among Texas school district leaders and decision-makers
  • Demonstrated success developing business, growing client portfolios, and winning new work
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex client engagements
  • Strong understanding of Texas K-12 funding mechanisms, capital planning processes, bond programs, procurement methods, and facilities planning
  • Excellent presentation, communication, facilitation, and relationship-management skills
  • Proven ability to balance strategic leadership with day-to-day execution
  • Willingness to travel throughout Texas as needed
  • Recognized as a thought leader within the Texas Public K-12 market
  • Active involvement with organizations such as TASA, TASB, TASBO, or other K-12 industry organizations
  • Experience leading major capital improvement programs, districtwide facilities assessments, educational planning initiatives, or large-scale development projects
  • Strong professional network across school districts, charter networks, educational organizations, and industry partners
  • Track record of building and developing high-performing teams
  • Experience working within consulting, advisory, owner's representation, or professional services environments
  • Ability to identify future market opportunities and position organizations for long-term growth
